On 4 and 5 May 2011 the Marshall house at the Berlin exhibition area hosted the first Berlin Water Dialogues. Taking place within the context of WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL about 70 people from the water branch attended the event. Cooperation  partners were the Berlin Senate Administration for Economy, Technology and Women, Berlin Wasser, Messe Berlin, the Third World Water Centre for Water Management and Triad Projektgesellschaft.
Bayer CropScience AG, CISCO Systems, Grontmij GmbH and Siemens AG supported the event as so called founding partners.

The welcome words by Dieter Ernst (then Berlinwasser Group), the opening speech by then Senator Harald Wolf and the keynote address by Johan Kuylenstierna (Centre Director, Stockholm Environment Institute) marked the beginning of an event that targeted at adding the issue of the use of water resources to the strategic agenda of the industry.
During four working sessions, representatives from industry, science and research, from professional associations and politics discussed the implications of a interdisciplinary approach in contrast to those of a linear one.
The discussion focussed on both the innovations necessary and the efficient and sustainable use of the water resources by the different branches.

The participants released the jointly achieved results, made evaluations and raised future prospects.
