{"id":1069,"date":"2012-01-21T11:27:33","date_gmt":"2012-01-21T10:27:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blueplanetberlin.de\/?p=1069\/"},"modified":"2017-12-12T11:31:35","modified_gmt":"2017-12-12T10:31:35","slug":"sustainable-use-of-water-in-agriculture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueplanetberlin.de\/en\/sustainable-use-of-water-in-agriculture\/","title":{"rendered":"Sustainable Use of Water in Agriculture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The second <strong>Berlin Water Dialogues<\/strong> took place from 19 to 21 January 2012 and formed part of the Berlin trade fair \u201cInternationale Gr\u00fcne Woche Berlin\u201d, the biggest trade fair of its kind, and its large opening event, the \u201cGlobal Forum for Food and Agriculture\u201d. By choosing the Gr\u00fcne Woche and the Global Forum as a framework the circle of participants expanded and thus their number (150). Further the circle of cooperation partners expanded: ATB Leibniz Institut f\u00fcr Agrartechnik Potsdam-Borniem e.V., GIZ, Humboldt-Universit\u00e4t Berlin, PIK Potsdam-Institut f\u00fcr Klimafolgenforschung, Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin and the WWF.<\/p>\n<p>Bayer CropScience AG and CISCO Systems supported the event.<\/p>\n<p>The two main subjects of the<strong> Berlin Water Dialogues<\/strong> 2012 were \u201cA holistic view on water in the food supply-chain\u201d and \u201d Water use &amp; water allocation \u2013 competing sectors and interests \u201c. Among other things the participants in the discussion examined the correlations or connections between the water resources and the safeguarding of food production from different perspectives.<br \/>\nInternational experts from industry and science, research, institutions and professional associations contributed their knowledge and experience. Keynote addresses and political reports completed the concrete results of the day that were achieved in and presented by the participants in the workshops and working groups.
