Aklilu Fikresilassie (PhD) is the Director of Thriving Resilient Cities at WRI Africa, bringing over 20 years of leadership and technical experience in urban development, environmental policy, and program management across governmental and non-governmental sectors.
Before joining WRI, he represented UN-Habitat in Ethiopia and served as a Planning Specialist and team coordinator for UNDP in South Sudan. Fikresilassie is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at University College Dublin and a researcher focused on urbanization, environmental issues, water resources, and common pool resources.
