
Daniela Bemfica is a civil engineer and holds a master’s degree in Water Resources Management, focusing on urban hydrology. She is an expert in urban stormwater management, having worked for over 18 years at the Porto Alegre City Stormwater Department in Brazil, where she coordinated the city Urban Drainage Master Plan and served as Director-General. Daniela is currently the Director of Strategic Programmes and Engagement at the International Water Association Secretariat, coordinating a multidisciplinary and culturally diverse team responsible for IWA’s Digital Water, Water and Sanitation Services, Cities of the Future, and Basins of the Future programmes, as well as for the management of all IWA communities of members (Specialist Groups, Young Water Professionals, Regulators, and Fellows & Distinguished Fellows).
